The Wines Elementary Science and Builder’s Fair

We spent the evening at Oliver’s school showing off his robot at the science/builder’s fair. He left feeling elated that he was given a purple ribbon with “Excellent” on it. I thought it was wonderful to see him push past his fears and talk to the judges all by himself. He named the robot King Vaner: King of the robots. In preparation we asked Oliver what King Vaner did and he gave us a list to type up. We printed it and put it next to the robot. On the list were things like: it shoots acid from its acid claws at bad robots; it can see where bad robots are on it’s blue tv screen; it rolls around instead of walking; it can make things with it’s eyes (cars or anything else); and it’s eyes can make them disappear when you don’t need them any more.

Nabby suffered through it pretty well and only pretended to have broken legs twice.

The other projects where very cool. Some of my favorites were the skyscrapers, paper airplanes, and super long 2×4 ships. We saw friends from church and Oliver’s kindergarten class and had a great time.
