She is a doll! How is Oliver handling a new sister? Is it hard for him to share mom? I am terrified of Stella’s reaction next month. We’ll see. Miss you and congratulations on Ann Arbor! Let me know how it goes.

Hey Sunny! Stella’s going to be awesome… I’ve heard girls take to new babies really well.
Oliver and Naby are peas in a pod now, but when we first got back from the hospital he ignored her and I entirely. Jason was the only one he would go to for help or if he got hurt. It felt like “his and her” babies. Jason couldn’t hold her with out Oliver screaming and I couldn’t hold Oliver without the same result. He just wanted Jason. That was really hard for me.
A month later I was on my own regularly during the day with both of them and Oliver started to nudge Naby’s toes with his foot. He wanted to interact with her, but felt really awkward and didn’t know what to do. After lots of teaching him and learning not to overreact when he accidently hit her while showing her his toys, he warmed up to us. I tried to spend time with both of them when they were both awake and not just her. Luckily she was an angel and didn’t mind when I put her down in a bouncer or on a blanket on the floor. It was still only during the day though that he liked us. As soon as Jas walked in the door I didn’t exist again. We started putting him in his room for 30 sec time outs when he insisted Jason hold him on his lap at dinner. After three months he was much much better. He didn’t cling to Jason as much and felt more secure with all four of us.
Now he loves to follow me around and say “shhh” when we put Nabby down for naps. He’s so gentle with her when he holds her hand or tickles her tummy. I love it when he talks to her in the car too. She adores him of course. She smiles at me and on occasion at Jas, but she laughs at Oliver when she gets his attention.
Adorable!
The comments on your pictures remind me of a great book about a little pig named “Olivia”… I believe she was good at wearing people out too!
